5G Ventures partners with Thriasio Logistics Centre for the (D)igital Thriasio project

5G Ventures S.A. and Thriasio Logistics Centre S.A. (THEK) signed on 20 March a memorandum of cooperation to explore the prospect of forming a Joint Venture (JV) for the development and operation of a private 5G network (Private 5G) and the provision of ICT services in the field of logistics at the Thriasio Logistics Centre.

Thriasio Logistics Centre will be the first integrated state-of-the-art combined transport freight centre in Greece, the largest logistics centre in Greece and South-Eastern Europe. The total area of the Centre will exceed 300,000 sq.m. and will include a wide range of services.

Following its construction, it will provide sufficient space for important activities in the logistics sector, making Greece a hub for combined transport, and is expected to have an immediate social and economic impact by creating more than 3,000 new jobs. An outstanding advantage of the design is the fact that a railway line will pass through the centre.

In addition, the productivity boost to the logistics sector from the new digital opportunities created by new connectivity technologies such as 5G and related services is evident.

The aim of the collaboration between THEK and 5G Ventures is to explore the feasibility, commercial interest and ultimately the investment attractiveness of such a digital project. This includes the planning, construction, management and operation of a digital private network, as well as the development of an ecosystem of providers and solutions for the delivery of innovative ICT services in the logistics sector.

The combination of a modern physical facility with a customized digital infrastructure creates a clear competitive advantage for the relevant market in our country.
